a. Organized in 1900 as the Married Ladies' Afternoon Club, the Miami
Woman's Club became one of the city's most important social and cultural
organizations and was responsible for establishing Miami's public library
system. The Club's U-shaped Mediterranean Revival style building wraps
around a central courtyard overlooking Biscayne Bay. The Miami Woman's
Club was listed in the National Register of Historic Places in
1974.
