b. Although this small building is only 12 feet wide, its classic Art
Deco design illustrates the architectural trends and prevalent materials
of the Depression era. Multi-colored structural glass is arranged in a
series of horizontal and vertical bands on the building's fadcade. This
type of small neighborhood restaurant was popular throughout the United
States in the 1930s, but most have since disappeared. The S & S Restaurant
was listed in the National Register of Historic Places in 1989.
